This changed with 2015 (possibly 2014, but I skipped 2014 so I'm not sure) and I was told in an email from Autodesk that they cannot be moved. As mentioned, they are now merged with the status bar and are stuck on the bottom. I agree that it would have been nice if there was an option to have them above or below the command line because sticking them in line with the status bar icons drastically limits how many tabs you can have before they start hiding.

By the way, you can at least dock the tabs above the status bar as opposed to in line with them by right clicking on a layout tab and selecting "Dock Above Status Bar". If you are having problems with the status bar icons hiding tabs, this helps quite a bit. But they are still stuck below the command line.

Maybe it's locked and you can't move it.

Use LOCKUI command and unlock it or hold down the CTRL key and move it.

Thats not it. I can freely move it and dock it. I just can't get it positioned below the layout tabs as well as docked at the same time.

Now that the layout tabs have been merged with the statusbar in 2015 & 2016, I don't think this is possible. Layout tabs are no longer on a per-window basis but always down in the new statusbar.

I have to say I am pretty pissed off about this issue.

The problem is two-fold for me...

In order to make the screen STOP FLICKERING when zooming I have to do this:

"dock above status bar" the layout tabs

which creates a "huge" unusable chunk of real estate below the layout tabs AND above the status on the right side of the screen.

And dont tell me its a graphics card issue. NVIDIA Quadro K5200 installed.

Upgrading software should be an UPGRADE - not a step backwards, sideways, or down the toilet. WTH Autocad...

Do people even test out the feasibility of these changes to MAJOR CORE features of the program...!!!

That's a pretty big stretch saying it's a downgrade as this is probably more of an isolated issue than you care to admit.

This is hardly an isolated issue. Go to the thread that I linked about the screen flashing. When one KNOWN issue is ignored by autodesk, and then that steamrolls into creating MORE issues there is a problem. Screen real estate is a pretty damned big priority in our world and to ignore issues that degrade that priority is ridiculous. We pay good money for this program, I prefer not be a sheep and just accept these kinds of things....

IMHO, this is probably a hardware, rather than software, issue. It is no where near as widespread as you make it out to be.

Screen real estate a big issue? Come on. In this day of multiple monitors and large screens, you can have as much real estate as you want or can afford.
