I am working in AutoCAD 2016 and I am trying to change the setting so that when I double click a dimension, the text editor appears and I can change the text. I have read multiple strings of forums about going into the CUI panel and looking under the Double Click options and then under Dimension - however, in my CUI panel, there is NOTHING that says "Dimension" listed anywhere - not under Double Click or anywhere so how can I update the setting if I do not even see this option. I looked in my AutoCAD 2015 version and it is listed but not in 2016.

Help me!

-R

If you right-click on "Double Click Actions", you should be able to add "Dimension".

Then add the Object Name = DIMENSION

Then you should be able to add TEXTEDIT as the command to execute.

You should not edit dimension text. You should adjust the geometry to which the dimension applies.

The command to edit dimension text is TEXTEDIT.

I would add somenting to your PGP file as a shortcut to this command.

I have mine as DD

This works by default in R2016 here: are you running an add-on? Custom menu file?

Migrate?

Sounds like you loaded a primary menu file from somewhere else too, I see the entry in the CUI here

I don't think this is an unreasonable request.
We have dimstyles that report the distance of the dimension, but the prefix and suffix are different each time. We couldn't create a dimstyle for each situation, even if we wanted to.
So edit the distance? Not generally.
But editing the entire dimension string? Yes, all the time.

Now from the lower pane where all the commands are listed, scroll down to the TEXTEDIT command and drag and drop onto the new "Dimensions" you just created.

I am not able to find TEXTEDIT under the command list in CUI. So I tried creating my own TEXTEDIT command, with the macro ^C^C_TEXTEDIT (Used from another computer). This did not work.. I am running DIEMAKER, an add-on to Autocad, which I believe is the initial culprit, but not sure why the command doesn't even show up.

Below is the screen from the autoCAD CUI that works, so I mirrored this on the other computer and still no luck. The new computer creates a new Element ID (Not ID_TEDIT). I did a command search in the CUI and TEXTEDIT comes up for other commands.

I also backed out of CUI and typed in "TEXTEDIT" in the command line, and the command works from the command line for editing text.

To make my issue clear:

-Want to be able to double-click Dimension text to edit it.

-Tried Adding "TEXTEDIT" command to "Double Click Actions", but could not find "TEXTEDIT" in the Command List

-Tried Creating a new "TEXTEDIT" command using "^C^C_TEXTEDIT" for the Macro

-"Properties Menu" still comes up when double clicking dimensional text

Thank you in advance,

JG
