topic What is the .ctb standard for Autocad using files from Revit? in AutoCAD Forum

Does anyone know a standard plot style that would work when importing a Revit file into Autocad? Seems like a simple procedure but nowhere have I found a setup that works yet.

I read there is a NCS 4.0 .ctb but can not find it anywhere.

I read that Autocad used to have the import .pcp file when in the wizard which no longer is an option. Not sure why this was taken away. I cant be the only one who cannot understand why they would remove a major feature like this and replace it with no options.

Please help

Thank you,

The user who created the Revit file and Exported them to a dwg hopefully has the ctb assignments properly done within their project which is why typically those dwg files created are accompanied with ctb files. If they are missing then you would need to go back and request for them.

Revit does not work in .ctb so not sure how it would be synced to cad AIA standards,

It used to work with .pcp files which came with the Revit import. This doesn't work anymore.

Can't request something that doesn not exist.

Thanks for your reply

I’m not sure what you mean when you posted about importing Revit into AutoCAD. AutoCAD cannot import Revit files. In Revit you have to Export to create a dwg file for AutoCAD to open. It’s during that Export process the ctb files are also generated. If you’ve properly setup Revit you can assign the colors you want so that when dwgs are exported they would match whatever the ctb file you want to end up to match. But this does take setup time on the Revit side and does not necessarily come standard out of the box. You may want to post this question on the Revit forum on how to setup the proper colors for a dwg export.

You can layer-map the objects in Revit to autocad layer names/colors/etc. If you setup the mapping such that the resulting layers correspond to AIA standards then you've got what you need in the format you need it. It's a pretty simple procedure, but can take some time depending on your situation.

Actually a pcp file is created and then you’ll have to convert to ctb
