how to save other users hatch patterns?

hi, ahm just gonna ask on how can i copy or save the hatch on a specific cad file, so that i can edit that hatch...

here's the case: I just recieve a cadd file from a friend, and there was a hatch that isn't on my cadd program file...i want to copy/save as that hatch or to create my own .pat file...can anyone there help me? thanks...

and oh, i just download a LISP tool to get that, but it didn't work..

Command: getpat
Select hatch: *?????
; error: bad argument value: positive 0

Get your friend to use ETRANSMIT to send you the drawing.

This will create a zip file, with EVERYTHING needed to reproduce the drawing on your machine INCLUDING hatch patterns.

All you need to then is open the .PAT file and find the hatch and copy and paste into your own hatch file.

Where is he trying to save it?

Ask him to try and save it to his computer first. If he can save it to his computer then get him to send you the zip file.

he tried to save it on his desktop and/or drive D...but that's what always happened...maybe the problem is in the file...

i downloaded the GETPAT.lsp so that i can just saved that hatch .pat file, but it didn't work... i also tried to make a custome hatch using hatchmaker.lsp, but it didn't work also...

You can always ask him to email you the .PAT file, after all it is only a text file.

i guess there's no nid to ask him anymore...i press the F2 on my keyboard...luckily this one appears

i just copy and paste that in an existing .pat file then save as to another filename...and it worked!!!!!! yey!!!...

but thanks for time trying to help me...i do appreciate it.. 😄

.pat files would not be included in the etransmit package -- the definition of the hatch pattern is already in the dwg, so there's no need to include it for etransmit purposes.
