topic Crash on TEXT in 2016 in AutoCAD Forum

Hi there,
I've just encountered this problem on fresh install on a windows 8.1, 64 bit machine.
No matter what drawing I'm in, be it empty or huge, using any of the text tools ( Single line or Multiline) will cause a crashing, giving "An Unkown exception has occoured". I can specify where i want the text to go, ( ie, select first corner, select second corner ) however right when you would normally be able to type the text in, the program crashes, saving a recovery file along the way.

Does anyone know of any fixes to this issue or what could be causing it? It's getting in the way, and the workaround of drawing out each letter isn't worth it.

Thanks.
