How to correct a Fatal Error: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0000 Exceptio at dff898e4h when saving a file. This happened in AutoCAD 2012 when trying to save a drawing.

Just one drawing? Then open that drawing with command _RECOVER and let errors in the database be repaired.

If that happens with every drawing (e.g. creating a new drawing based on an original template, draw a line and run _SAVEAS) then

you might have set a default save format to an old dwg file version

you might have an application or plugin installed raising that issues

your AutoCAD profile is defect (you can try your AutoCAD with another Windows user account)

you have an antivirus software or drivers (like saving to dropbox or something like that) which blocks some traffic.

I ended up sending the error onto Autodesk and it sent back a link with a fix for the error I was getting. Once I applied the fix the issue was corrected.
