Designing a pipe-bookshelf

Hello, I recently built something very similar to this:

Pipe Bookshelf http://i.imgur.com/vOrj3qj.jpg (same picture)

I would really like to make a blueprint/design for this, showing the entire thing created in autocad or autoinventor (which do you think would be the better application?) as well as a parts breakdown, showing exactly how many sections of, for example lets say, '16 inch pipe' they would need.

I looked up furniture and shelving design, but I couldn't find anything pertinent. Anyway, basically I don't know where to start. I tried just figuring it out, just tinkering with the software, but I couldn't get anything done really. Any advice would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

16" pipe? that is bigger than a city sewer pipe

My advice would be to sign up for a class to learn to use the software.

I apologize, I should have been more clear. The pipe has a inside diameter of 1.5 inches. When I say 'section of 16
inch pipe' I mean 16 inches longs, with a diameter of 1.5 inches

Yes, learn both Autocad and Inventor, learn what autocad can't with 3d vs. Inventor can do with 3d
