There was an API change in AutoCAD 2015 where the program no longer calls the Windows ghosting functionality. If you'd like to suggest having this undone, please submit the feature request here:

In AutoCad 2014, whenever autocad was spooling away if you clicked one too many times the screen would grey out. Then you knew to leave it alone and when the grey disappeared you knew you could start clicking on things again.

With 2016 the screen doesn't grey out whenever autocad stalls out (which is very often - processes that take 20 seconds in 2014 take 2 minutes in 2016) so you have no indicator to let you know when it's ready to go again.

Is there a setting somewhere to turn the grey screen back on?

What kind of files and filesizes are you working with?

Under normal conditions Autocad should not "time out" for 2 minutes (or 20 seconds)

Our typical drawing files are around 2-3,000 KB. They can get up to around 10 or 12 before we start splitting them up.
