Hi all,

I have a few system variables on my watch list. The system variable monitor shows a balloon notification whenever a variable is changed from its preferred value (as expected).

The problem is that this notification stays on screen until I click on the cross (x) icon, even though the timeout for balloon notifications is defined as 5 seconds in the "info center" settings.

Is there something else I need to do?

Thank you!

If I uncheck this option, the balloon notification ceases to appear (which is undesirable). Only a message is shown in the command bar (which is often overlooked). What I actually require is for the balloon notification to be displayed, but for a specific duration and then automatically closed afterward.

Actually, that is not completely true. The SYSTVARMONITOR icon only appears, and with a yellow exclamation, when something needs addressing. When there is nothing, it stays away. Most of the power users in our offices have mastered glancing over occasionally to check and reset. Give that a try.

For your wish to continue using it, it works as described here for me:

what are your settings for TRAYSETTINGS command or with the TRAYTIMEOUT variable?

Are you by chance in a restricted login at a company PC?

Voila! This is exactly what I was looking for. TRAYSETTINGS / TRAYTIMEOUT did the trick for me. You are a wizard @pendean.

@pendean wrote:

Actually, that is not completely true. Give that a try.

Of course, I am aware of it. Problem is most of the time I have some variables with other than preferrable values (temporarily, which I reset to preferrable values after achieving my current goal). As a result, the yellow exclamation mark is almost always there for me. The purpose of the balloon notification is to be aware of the sudden changes caused by using a script / lisp, etc. Missing out on such changes can lead to a lot of frustration and wasted time, you know what I mean.

Anyway, big thanks for the help once again. Your support's a lifesaver!
