I can't understand why presspull doesn't work as it should

Hi!

I have the same issue agian.

I need to create extruded circle in the center of solid.

When I do presspull or extrude I can see result in 2D wireframe,

but I can't see that in others types of View

I aligned UCS before extrude solid.

After extruding Solid - the body of guitar,

I am trying to use and presspull.

It still doesn't work.

All ideas are appreciated.

I am not sure, but the problem could be the settings of autocad.

I can see the presspull results in wireframe,

but can't see it in other types of view

I think what you want to do is to create a hole in the body of your guitar. What you have done now is simply created a cilinder that overlaps with your guitar body. If you want to create a hole from that cilinder, use the 'subtract' command, and subtract the cilinder from the guitar body.

Also, you might not be aware of it, but you have several items that overlap there. Maybe enable SELECTIONCYCLING to get a better idea of what you're working with.

It looks like there is still a solid in the middle circle. Are you trying to pull up the guitar shape with or without the circle?

Try not to get into the habit of blaming AutoCAD. A bad workman blames his tools.

Yes, there is a solid in the middle circle, it is the result of presspull action.
I am trying to extrude entire body of the guitar, and then presspull the circle down

Are there settings is autocad which change the view type except those in left corner
As I said before I can see the result of presspull in wireframe view type, it is the solid in the middle of guitar body,
but I can't see it in other types of view

it's work fine with me after redraw guitar shape (see attached image). i think the probelm is on the 2D shape before pressbull .

i leave the CAD drawing either if it's help.

I think you do not understand how the presspull command works.

It does not function like in sketchup. You cannot simply draw a shape on your solid, and extrude it so it makes a cut in the solid. When you try to do that, it just creates a new solid. You need to subtract the second solid from the first in order to make the cut.

Ok, apparently you just need to select the area instead of the edge of the polyline you wish to extrude.

But could you also explain me why I can't see the result of presspull?

presspull works.
I can see that in 2D wideframe mode.
It looks as solid cilinder inside the body of guitar.
This is result of presspull,
but I can't see that in Shaded or shaded with edges view option.
So, my question is how I can see the result of presspull without drawing the guitar from scratch.

Last time I had this problem I just drew the object from scratch and it worked fine,
but if I have something more complicated this would be a trouble

You're not alone, the other day when I used Presspull it did the same thing, given me Surface.

Then I copied that same circle and presspull gave me 3Dsolid.

I replied one other post that presspull is crap, it is, I'm using Loft , takes more time but it works for me.

There is no way I can answer your question without watching your process. That is why classroom instruction is so important. Find a college that teaches these topics and take a 3D modelling class for best results.

Presspull works in context with the other solids in the area. When presspull is used on a closed boundary, it creates a solid. Otherwise, it creates a surface. If you use it on a circle without an adjacent solid, it just creates a cylinder. If the visual style is wireframe, it sometimes has trouble sensing the location of other solids. The view direction is also important as you saw in the video.

If the presspull is extended into an adjacent solid, it subtracts. If it extends outward from the surface, it adds to the solid object.

In the video, I first started by erasing all of the stuff in the way and began with your 2d profiles. I exruded the body downward and the bridge downward. Then I changed to 2D wireframe to improve selection. After moving the bridge items upward, I imprinted the polyline on the bridge and used the move gizmo to move the imprinted edges.

Then I shelled the body to create the hollow form. Only then did I presspull the circle downward through the body to create the hole.

Keep the geometry as simple as you can as long as you can. End by adding fillets and chamfers. Do that too early and everything gets too complicated.

Please try that special case on yout comp., this special file

and then extrude circle down.

Sure, later, when I can access newer autocad.

Trueview converted the drawings but they crashed with 2008 autocad.

The reason for my post is to understand why in this special case I can't see the expexted result from presspull.

In the attached file it works fine.

I have solid. I draw circle, and then presspull down.

In this "guitar case"
