Transfer license from dead PC

I've used AutoCAD 2007 occasionally since it was new, running it on Win XP desktops. The latest desktop's motherboard is now fried (melted capacitors) and I want to transfer the license to my Win XP laptop.

How can I do the transfer? It was last installed on a machine which no longer exists (except as a pile of parts )

If it's relevant, the old hard drive is intact, so all the AutoCAD files still exist as they were when I last used the software.

You will need to install and authorize 2007 from the disk like you did back in the day when it was first installed.

No way it can be dig out of a hard drive that easy.

If your license still valid, you can contact Autodesk and activate it again.

Thanks for the reply.

My original post was unclear – I was hoping to use the Portable License Utility (PLU) which is available on AutoCad 2007, rather than going the full activation route again. I did that in the past, when I upgraded desktops; my recollection is that it was dead easy.

Oh well, what matters is that I've activated my new laptop install successfully. Thanks again.

I have a license on a computer that I have been using for years. It has 2008P&ID loaded and I need to move it to a new computer. But I am sure that I don't have the disks. But I have the licence number. Is it possible to download from the web., I looked and looked, but it wasn't to be found. I saw a lot of other "Service Pack" types of downloads. But nothing that looked like a complete download
