Even the round lines look like angles. I have search a ton of forums and have found no answer. Any ideas?

Visio will open a dwg file. It's the wmf export that is causing problems when brought into Visio so skip that step and just open the dwg in Visio. Depending on your version of Visio you may need to save your dwg as autocad 2008 for Visio to be able to open it.

If you need native Visio symbols for fire alarm systems you may find our NFPA 170 set helpful:
http://www.shapesource.com/nfpa-170-fire-and-safety-plan

Here's another set that may be useful:
http://www.shapesource.com/fire-alarm-system-design
Hello Brett, I was able to find the solution to this problem. We need the file to be converted to .wmf per the requirements of the fire alarm computer. We use Visio to see how it will look in the graphics screen of the fire alarm computer. I had an idea that one layer was throwing this whole thing off. So I highlighted the entire layout and clicked explode. tried to export again and it was perfect. Thanks again for the help. Regards, Jason Also, I realized this may have been posted in the wrong thread. If the mods see this. Feel free to move it accordingly.

Oops... forgot that I'd responded to this last year. For some reason I received an email today that seemed to indicate that the issue was still open. Glad you found a solution. In the future, if the alarm company's system can take it, I'd recommend using .emf (enhanced metafile) instead of .wmf (windows metafile) because it has a richer data structure and usually renders better between applications... although not always. Our go-to conversion format is actually .svg, again, if the source and target systems support it. Visio does a good job of producing and opening .svg files.
