Files long time to open in Autocad 2014

to Autocad expert. i have a few files that it take a longer time to open, i already tried everthing purge, scalelistedit, audit, flatten, dxfout , dxfin but still the same no changes. what could be the reason??

And i tried also to DGNPURGE but there is a error comeout (Please see attached)

Any help , suggestion is much appreciated. thanks

Is the file size much larger than it should be? (I cleaned some last week for a co-worker that were 100MB in size before and less than 1MB after).

My guess is that it's infected with the DGN linetype bloat. I don't know why you're getting that error while using DGNPurge. Do you have the very latest version of that tool?

As rkmcswain mentioned this could be an issue with DGN linetypes bloating the drawing file. Having said that, I notice that there are a few things which you did not mention having tried. Give the following a go:

AUDIT command to fix file errors
Then use the "-Purge" command and select "R" for Regapps
Followed by "-Purge" or Purge to remove remaining unreferenced entities.

Review the following document for additional information about fixing corrupted drawing files. If none of these solutions work, please post the drawing file so that we can take a look at it.

@rkmcswain , thank you for your reply, yes i have the latest version of that tool.

Latest updates of all service packs and hot fixes and graphics card driver , OS . etc is not an issue i had all updated. And is not also a network problem because i copied to my C: drive and open from there, still facing the same issue. The file size is just only 2,387 KB thats the reason why i posted this issue here. i really dont know what is the caused of this problem. thanks

Thanks for the feedback. I'm sorry to hear none of those solutions worked for you. I understand the confidentiality clause. are you able to email me the file? As a subscription customer we at Autodesk are under a Non-Disclosure Agreement with you.

Some additional solutions (shall we call them work arounds):

After WBlocking the file, insert the file into a blank (new) drawing template such as acad.dwt.

An alternative would be to turn on and thaw all layers. Then copy all objects to the Windows Clipboard. Finally, paste them into a new drawing template.

One additional question, are you using constraints?

hi, thanks, i already did that wblock and start new drawings and windows clipboard. no i did not use constraints i can also use delconstraint. i'm not too sure if can send it to you need approval first from the management. I will try my best to solve this issue again. Anyways thank you for your help much appreciated.

When you used the WBLOCK command, did you choose "Entire Drawing" or did you select objects?

You should do the latter, and if that doesn't work - repeat the process but only export a subset of your layers each time. At some point you should be able to narrow down the problematic objects.

As as test, save the drawing down to R12DXF format, then open up that DXF and save back to DWG.

Any better?
