Hello, Gurus of drawing!

again a question of other topic: Me with me supervisor had a talk about thread representation. Yes, I know that thread should be represented with partial circular thread edge, but why is there a FULL CIRCULAR THREAD EDGE? I could not find any standard that uses this style. everywhere is partial circular thread edge used. Maybe somebody could reveal the darkness?

Hmmm, I was not aware that AutoCAD would even do automatic simplified representation of threads.

I suspect this is for AutoCAD Mechanical.

As far as the Standards question.... ...I don't know - I have always preferred the full circle (referencing Gieseck, et al Technical Drafting).

I reference Delmar Technical Graphics Series, Technical Drawing, Fourth Edition and cannot find any representation of external or internal threads which uses a partial arc. They are all represented as full circles as shown in your image.

Presumably the OP has more than one -- "everywhere is partial circular thread edge used" -- so they should be able to cite something. I'm wondering whether the "standard" varies by geographical regions, or countries, or languages, or something. [Just idle curiosity on my part -- I don't ever need to draw such things.]

Uh, found about my partial circular edge! These are standards which are most common in my region:

1) ISO 6410-3 (1993) - representation of screw threads and threaded parts

2) ISO 15786:2005 - Simplified representation and dimensioning of holes

And they use partial circular thread edge representation

Thank you JDMatter for the name of standard ANSI/ASME Y14.41 (at least I know now where to look for evidence of another style existence)

(Please forgive me for using this forum for such question)
