I have. I copy the code that is shown on the field command under filename and everything works. The problem is when I Xref the file everything changes to the Xref file name.

In the host drawing, insert a field, select object (select the xref) and select "saved path" from the properties column.

This will insert the xref name and path.

Sorry....I can't see the attched jpeg properly to see what you have selected for the Field.

here's what I do:

Mtext, Insert field.

In the Field dialog, on the left for Category, select Object.

In the middle column click on the Select button for Object Type.

Now select the Xref object in the host file.

In the middle column there are a bunch of options available for Object Type

Select the Saved path option.

The drawing name and path will be displayed as a field

If you want the current file name displayed as a field, select "Document" from the Field Category list.

Then from the Field Names list, select "Filename".

On the right of the dialog you can select fromm the options for Filename Only, Path & Filename or Path Only and

whether to display the file extension or not.
