topic Attributes and Character Spacing in AutoCAD Forum

We have a title block with attributes using a truetype font in AutoCAD 2007. After doing a regenall the space between the characters expands by approximately 1.5x. This also occurs when printing.

While troubleshooting I noticed several quirks:

1. The spacing problem only occurs with truetype fonts. Not .shx fonts.

2. This does not happen when the block in in modelspace. Only paperspace.

3. It only seems to happen with attributes. Not with mtext or dtext.

In the attached bipmap, the attributes which appear correctly is on the left and in modelspace. The attributes that are problematic are on the left and in paperspace.

Are you sure that's a feature of the font you are using in the attributes?
What is that TTF font?

The TTF is Gill Sans but I doubt the problem is related to the specific
font as the issue occurred with other TTF but not with .shx fonts.

What spacing setting is the attribute set to? Change it to 1 and see if the problem goes away.

Hi,

>> The TTF is Gill Sans

Are you sure it's a true type font? I just opened MS-Word, looked for that font and this is an OpenType-font, not a TrueType-Font (on my system)

Which operating system do you have?

What happens, when you start command _STYLE and adjust the width-factor to 0.95 or so (close to the current setting, but a bit different).
