Plot clearness

The plot version is not as clear as the autocad. Is there a setting for that? Thanks

Can you share sample dwg with this problem?

Can you do screen capture of your Plot window and share?

Whats your AutoCAD version?

Whats your Operating System?

It is a PDF. I imported PED with notes. Do you know any ways to just import notes from PDDF. I tried the markup assistant, but it doesn't work for me.

Hi @qchenTPPXV

Export the PDF and save it as an alternate version.

Make another external reference. In this second xref convert the PDF to jpg, then instead of inserting the PDF, insert the newly exported jpg .

Depending on your particular PDF app, your procedure may vary. Print both drawings to separate hardcopies: (1) the PDF xref version and (2) the jpg xref version. Compare the PRINTED sheets side-by-side. Is one clearer than the other?

The reason you want hardcopies is to remove your monitor's resolution from the comparison. Hardcopies will show RAW clarity whereas your monitor will factor in your monitor's resolution.

Consider increasing the Quality DPI.

It probably won't work? Explain why, be detailed.

Can you share your your PDF?

Not all PDFs are the same, some are bad while some are good. There's no way of knowing without the actual real deal PDF.

There is no setting that will make it clearer, especially one that can be used as a substitute for know-how.

When I import it as a image, it becomes blurred. This is the quality I got. Please find the PDF attached. Let me know if you come up with some solutions. Thank you very much.

Thanks for uploading your PDF!!

You can use your uploaded PDF (post #11) as a source for VECTOR linework. Do this:

On command line enter PDFIMPORT=>FILE (image-1).

2. Browse to and select your PDF=>OPEN=>Make your settings like this (image-2).

Depending on your ability to manage layers and the 'pen assignments' when you plot, you can make output like this.

Thank you for getting back to me. I am more interested in importing the markup that highlighted in yellow. I know when I import PDF, the markups get lost.

The YELLOW highlighted part is not created in AutoCAD. It was created in Adobe Acrobat (or similar PDF program). You may need to manually re-create those markups that were performed in Acrobat.

Your last post is strange because you never mentioned yellow markups in your opening post, your only concern was the 'clearness' of the green sanitary sewer line.

When using PDFIMPORT command, you can preserve the Acad layers, you cannot capture Acrobat markups unless your are willing to REPRINT the marked up PDF using the File=>Print function while inside the Acrobat program.

Depending on the LAYERS you want to display (or turn Off), you can vary the plot output.

All PDF 'Layers' are turned ON.

Thank you for clear things out. Yes, also tried several ways to import markup but it doesn't work for me. Do you have a chance to try markup assistant under the collaborate ribbon? It doesn't import for me when I click check mark.

Regarding your marked up version, someone MANUALLY created those markups in Adobe Acrobat, not AutoCAD. I suggest you create (or re-recreate) them manually too. It can't be that hard.

Despite our need for a function and our solemn promise to use a brand new command, the program doesn't always perform the way want want. Although we may ask developers to create a new tool to accommodate our urgent need, they are unmoved by our appeal. A tool to copy markups generated in Acrobat may be liked by 3 or 4 users but a tool that has AutoCAD pouring us a cup of coffee in the morning might be liked by tens of thousands, maybe millions. Based on popularity, a tool that pours coffee seems more imminent that a tool for copying PDF markups. Jus sayin'.

In this specific case, the linework does not have a projection so it's a manual process. If you have an advanced understanding of reference systems and coordinate geometry, you can position the linework in the correct geospatial spot at the correct scale and with the proper orientation.

Open a clean, brand new drawing and assign a coordinate system, e.g. UTM83-17 meters (EPSG 26917).
Go to Geolocation panel=>Online Map Panel=>Change Map Off to Map Hybrid using the dropdown.
Start PDFIMPORT command=>enter 'F' on command line=>Browse to PDF=>Open=>Select Parameters=>OK
Using labels in Bing imagery, navigate in modelspace to your site using Pan and Zoom functions of your mouse. Finally, use Move, Scale and Rotate commands to position the linework. Hint: use ALIGN command to perform move-scale-rotate simultaneously.
