I need to see if a drawing can be emailed to another cad user but locked so they can't change it. Would read only work?

and no , he can just use the explorer to change it ... that´s nothing to do with CAD , that are file right on OS system ?

so if you what to lock your file you need somthing ( a tool ) like cadlock

You need to buy 3rd party file locking software, and your recipient will need to download and use an unlocking key. Anything else you can simply do easily on your computer they can easily undo on your computer.

Do you honestly think "read only" is only known by you and no one else 🙂

Do you really need to send them a CAD file?

In situation like this, you may want to consider creating a PDF or DWF from the drawing file and then email that to your friend.

Though there's still a possibility of changing a PDF & DWF, it's not as easy as modifying the dwg.
