topic Jerky Cursor in AutoCAD Forum

I'm running AutoCad Civil 3D 2016, and I have the jerky cursor problem, like a similar post. It happens when I start a line or pline command, then once I click somewhere, it's fine. However, it's so jerky, it's difficult to even click. This is not happening in every drawing. I can unload a couple of xrefs in this particular drawing, and it improves. The drawing is less than 2 megs, has 8 xrefs, and 3 layout tabs. Don't see any reason why this should be happening.

Is everything such as Dynamic UCS, Selection Cycling, 3D Osnap, etc. disabled?

There are probably dozens of things that can all contribute to this, from hardware (video card) to settings such as listed above being enabled, etc. etc.

Do other, smaller drawings act okay?

Hi,

welcome @Anonymous.autodesk.com!

>> The drawing is less than 2 megs, has 8 xrefs

How big are the XRef's?

When you switch to modelspace, then zoom away from all your geometry how's your cursor then working?

Check the settings:

active osnaps used ==> reduce them to ENDpoint or turn them off

try both states for hardware acceleration, on and off, command _GRAPHICSCONFIG

ROLLOVERTIPS ==> turn them off

SELECTIONCYCLING ==> turn it off

SELECTIONPREVIEW ==> turn it off

Let us know if anything of that makes the situation better

- alfred -

One more thing to check to the other items noted... Is F9 (snap) turned on?
