Well, locate a GIS shape file for roadways that covers the area you want, import that Into Map3D, and then tweak as desired. Or, Import a PDF map of the area you need into vanilla, and then fix that up to look the way you want.

Or even easier, use the Geomaps feature and capture a roadway image. Really, it's apretty simple thing to do and the hardest part is deciding what source data to use.

AutoCAD can certainly draw that. basically using Plines and text. So maybe a better queston would be what's your source material to start with? If GIS - then Map3D cna import shae files. If a vector PDF, the Adobe Illustrator or even Inkscape might be able to export something usable via DXF. If it's a raster PDF, just attach it and trace over it,

I see. Most probably it was generated from a a GIS base. Possibly using Mapimport command in Map3d/Civil3d, or a third party progam that handles GIS formats. Or exported to DWG/DXF from the GIS system.

Did you ever find an answer to your question on how to make a 2D Vicinity Map like the example you had? I cannot believe it is so difficult to find this basic information out.

HI @Anonymous,

In my experience, without access to GIS or Map or similar programs, most firms simply grab a map off the Internet and attach it as an image in the drawings. It is important to retain any branding from the source to avoid any copyright infringement.

You can also open the map image in a vector/raster graphics application and adjust contrast and threshold if desired but it will not produce vectors from the raster graphic.

Another option is to open such an image in a raster conversion application which can sometimes suitably create a vector drawing for you to insert.
