Clicking and Typing problems with all Autodesk programs that I use on my pc.

I am using AutoCAD 2025, Inventor, Civil 3D, and Pland 3D on my pc at home for school. They are all updated to the newest versions. I have a gaming pc running windows 11. For all of those programs, I am currently having trouble typing and clicking. I mainly use the command bar next to my mouse to use commands and enter values, but almost after every letter or number that I type in it would stop. It is almost like someone is pressing the ESC key. Typing in the command line at the bottom of the screen works fine, but it is just kind of annoying since that isn't the usual way that I type stuff in autocad. I am also having problems with clicking. I would try to open drop down menus and it would take a couple of clicks for them to actually open. And sometimes once they do open they would close right away also like someone is pressing the ESC key. And when I try to click on "okay" or "cancel" buttons, it would take a couple of clicks for it to actually work. Typing and clicking have no problems when I am on an internet browser or literally other than autodesk programs. I also have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the autodesk programs, using a different keyboard and mouse, updating mouse and keyboard drivers, adjusting graphics settings on the programs and nothing worked. I had no problems running these programs until a couple of weeks ago. I am getting really desperate that I am considering going to a computer guy and dropping money for him to come to my house and "try" to help me. Looking forward to your replies, thank you!

perhaps you can show us a screenshot of entering commands at the "command bar"

so we can see the difference between that and the command line because I don't know what is a "command bar"?

So this is what is happening exactly, sorry for the confusion if “command bar” isn’t actually a real thing.

command bar = dynamic input

Something definitely looks like is intercepting your keyboard entries.

Does this problem occur in any other applications like in Word when you open the Print window (Ctrl+P) and you select Settings to change?

Same issue! This problem doesn't appear in other software/apps! only here in CAD!

So there’s an app that’s running on startup of Windows that needs to be shut down. What if you create a new Windows login with local admin rights then sign in using that profile without anything else in Windows startup?

I disabled some apps from that I thought might have caused this problem, but the problem still persists. These are the only apps I have enabled for startup left

I just made another Windows login with local admin rights and nothing else on Windows startup and the problem still persists

Is this a new Windows 11 install?

Did this problem occur after you updated from Windows 10 to 11?

Perhaps you need to go back to whoever installed this OS for you to troubleshoot this problem

No, I actually updated from Windows 10 to 11 like in July of last year. So I was running autodesk programs flawlessly up until like a couple weeks ago.

may have to trace back to what might have occurred 2 weeks ago that cause this problem on your Windows OS that impacts all apps

That's the thing though, I don't really know what happened to cause this problem. I don't think I installed or changed anything, I just noticed that it started doing it randomly while I was doing an assignment

Could also be a hardware issue where the usb port where you’re plugging in the keyboard is faulty. If you have a ps2 socket and a ps2 keyboard I would try that. Or try plugging in a wired keyboard into a different usb socket. Sometimes to reset all usb ports on a desktop computer you would have to unplug all devices including network connections after shutting down for a few minutes before reconnecting everything and then turn on the computer

What's that exactly?

Very odd since INVENTOR is not part of the AutoCAD family of software like the others you use.

It appears that two weeks ago an update, a software add, or a software removal, or mouse driver update/or setting change, or a hardware add/removal took place that changed your Autodesk software.

First thing to do is reboot Win11 in safe mode (this disables most drivers) and see if your issue persists or not.

I did a little more digging on task manager like @paullimapa had suggested. It wasn't on the Startup apps tab, it was on the Processes tab. I found that there was an old wallpaper engine that wasn't being used anymore so I disabled it and that completely fixed my problem! I'm not really computer savvy like that so I would never have looked at task manger. Thank you all for your input!

I was able to fix the problem by digging in task manager like @paullimapa had suggested! There was a wallpaper engine that was running in the background for me, so I disabled it and clicked end task. It might be a different app for you but yeah maybe just look in the task manager. Hope you find a solution!
