Slice Array/Hatch

Ive made a grid using the array and hatch tool to fill the rectangles ( if theres a better way of doing it id like to hear )

Im trying to slice the rectangles along the white lines.

The grid wont be selected, doesnt even say anything at the bottom why.

Ive tried to explode and union the grid but says 'At least 2 solids, surfaces, or coplanar regions must be selected.'

Ive probably gone about this backwards so any help is appreciated.

Hatch? So you don't have anything solid? No extrude? No Presspull? Just 2D?

Maybe extrim the 2D?

Attach your *.dwg file here and end all doubt.

Hi,

After you run your array to get the rectangles use command _BLOCK to create a new block from all that geom.
Then create a closed polyline from your new boundary from your "white lines".

At least run command _XCLIP, select the new created block from step 1, then for the new boundary use the select option and select the closed polyline from step 2.

I think you are going about this all wrong.

1. Slice is for 3D solids editing (as your command line told you).

2. You have not joined your white lines into a boundary.

3. Hatch would be done after trimming your grid.

4. Do #2, Delete #3, Extrim your grid with the joined boundary, Do #3.

5. But I can't help to think that a thicker lineweight would get you what you want a lot more easily than Hatch. No rectangles, only patterned and trimmed lines.

Edit: Or do what Alfred wrote ^^^
