Yeah, I'm running a test right now, with a drawing saved to the desktop, and with the increment set to 0.

Will have to see.

Situation:

Six users running ACAD 2014 on a hybrid network with a single server.

Drawings will be opened from the server, those drawings will be QSaved while being worked upon, then saved back to the server when complete.

Reopening those drawings a day later finds them with none of the changes / edits / additions intact.

Does not happen to every drawing.

Does not happen to any one User, either.

Does not happen on any one project and not another.

This cannot be replicated on demand.

Any ideas out there?

I suspect it might be a packet collission issue when the temp files are written out of the local machine to the server, but, I could be wrong (I've been wrong before)..

My other suspicion comes from a previous office where we were running ACAD 2004, and drawings left open on a local machine would not save over the server files once MS Backup has "set" the Archive bit (that was not a quick, nor easy, diagnostic--especially in a caustic office).

Not sure how you changed the Qsave command to make the drawing save locally instead of back to the server where the drawing originally opened from. And then what command is being used to save the drawing back to the server?

Area Object Link | Attribute Modifier | Dwg Setup | Feet-Inch Calculator
Layer Apps | List on Steroids | VP Zoom Scales | Exchange App Store

Ah, no--sorry if implied, but no changes to QSave or Save.

Save used to close drawings (or used on drawing close when prompted).

This is what is perplexing, that the drawings get incremental, user-applied QSaves through a drawing session, and the drawings re saved and closed, but, on reopening, have "gone back" to whatewever the last drawing session had in them.

Just now confirmed that the server is peer-to-peer with all the machines, so it's not a mapping issue (or, if it is, it's deep in the server's OS).

There should be no difference with QSave vs Save when it comes to where the file ends up saved to. In your case since the drawings are always opened on the server, then both QSave & Save would always be completed back on the server and the drawing there should always contain the latest version.

You may want to check under Options> Open & Save tab under the File Save section in the upper left hand corner to see what the Incremental save percentange value is set to. It should be 50 or less. To troubleshoot, you can set this value to 0. Then every Qsave = Save. Now see if the drawing on the server contain the latest info. If it still doesn't, then something else is going on that most likely has nothing to do with AutoCAD but has to do with how your network is set up.

Area Object Link | Attribute Modifier | Dwg Setup | Feet-Inch Calculator
Layer Apps | List on Steroids | VP Zoom Scales | Exchange App Store
