Microstation TAG set replication in AutoCAD

Good day to everyone!

I was trying to sort out something in AutoCAD and have thought that I could try to post it here hoping someone can help me.

What am I trying to do is to find out how can we replicate the tag information that Microstation can put into a smart solid inside AutoCAD?

My ultimate goal is to bring that TAG information into Navisworks which creates a separate tab on the properties palette carrying the same TAG that Microstation created.

I know that we can create this custom tab inside Navisworks but I am not looking to go that road simply because we’ve got maybe more than 50 elements inside a model.

Another option that I am looking at is that if we can convert the AutoCAD 3D model into Microstation then maybe we can TAG it from there but it will require another set of workflow. I’m still hoping that Autodesk has equivalent tool that we can explore and apply in a not so complicated manner.

Hi @Anonymous,

I am looking at your questions and a couple things came to mind. First, although it would require some effort, would be to make the solids into blocks that contain attributes that store the information you desire. Another idea would be to create custom materials for your objects that have the information stored in their name or in their properties. These could be assigned to each solid individually or by layer.

Just some ideas as a workaround.
