Hello abobucky, and welcome to the Forums!

You should be able to just double click to move between different VPorts.

Also available is the shortcut key CTRL+R
Cycles through the viewports on the current layout.

I hope that helps.

Viewport Switching

Hi, I'm having an issue with the viewport in AutoCAD 2016. It's not really an error within the program, but more of a personal / navigation type of issue I'm having, being a Maya user for the past several years and going back to AutoCAD after not using if for a long time.

I find myself fumbling while trying to switch from multiple 2D views & a 3D view. I have a top / front / side / 3D perspective layout. What I'm asking is, is there a way to quick switch between them, similar to Maya, which involves just hitting the space bar?

Double clicking the +/- icon in the top left corner of each window or dragging the divider around between the windows is cumbersome and slower, compared to how I'm used to working.

Thank you.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the quick reply. I probably should have been more specific in my first post. Are you at all familiar with Maya's viewport navigation?

What I'm trying to figure out is if there is something similar to that within AutoCAD. I keep a similar layout of 4 views while working in Maya. Hover over what viewport you want to work in, hit the space bar & it maximizes it.

Is there a way to do something similar in AutoCAD? Rather than clicking a tiny +/-, I've resorted to dragging the dividers around to make the view I want to work in a little bigger since it is a bit easier. I've attached an image that shows what I'm clicking / dragging around.

-Andrew

No, I am not familiar with Maya, sorry.

When you click on the little + it simply takes you to model space.

You can do the same thing by clicking on the Model tab on the lower left hand side of the screen, if you want it to be quicker.

With a little bit of digging, I found the command I was looking for.

I can maximize / minimize the viewport with VPMAX. I bound a keyboard shortcut to SHIFT + V, which gives me the quick switching I was looking for.

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi there your solution was great. But I have a question. I know how to use AliasEdit to make new commands. But how did you bind something to Shift + V??? How were you able to use a modifier key to make a keybind like that.

Appreciate your post!
