No one needs Postscript on a printer/plotter to print PDFs for checksets.
Is this dude trying to sell you more than you need? Is he on commission?

My question to the community is, does anyone have feed-back on thier experience plotting PDF files to an HP T730 plotter. Does it plot PDF's?

We are looking at purchasing an HP T730 plotter for our office. We only need this plotter to do simple check set plots now and then so we do not need anything extravagent. Sales rep. says this modle does not have postscrip in it and thus plotting PDF's is not garrantied to be perfect. We have a 18 year old DesighJet600 and it plots PDF's (an I doubt it has postscript cuz I don't think PDF's / postscript even existed 18 years ago).

Thanks to all in advance,

Rob

Thanks. I don't think he is trying to push postscript. He's just "saying" what he was told by HP, that a plotter with postscript will guarantee PDF's do plot. No that it won't plot them without it but that it can't be guarantied.

Thanks for your answer, very helpful.

Kind of like "want fries with that" as far as I'm concerned 🙂

When making big purchases I like to test and verify one my own: I have a problem with any salesman hat only parrots a script from a manufacturer without real life experiences.

Totally agree. I usually do but as we all can relate to, I'm to busy to go to a showroom an hour away and have it demo'd. Just so busy. I'd like to think a salesman knows his stuff, but we all know where the bias lies with a salesman (bottom line). I miss my old DJ600, it just kept going. Thanks again.

We use this printer at work, and it prints PDFs without an issue. The Postscript is only required to print PDFs from a USB drive connected to the printer. I use HP Instant Print 4 to manage the printer and have not had any issues.

Estimates, for those who use the HP T730 recommend it for daily use of 100 A1 sheets? I need to buy one and I am interested in this model ... thanks and regards.
