AutoCAD 2017 Publishing Error

I installed AutoCAD 2017 this past weekend and ever since it's been installed, I can't batch plot/publish. The error I get on my command line is "_publish Unknow command "PUBLISH". Press F1 for help." I can't figure this out for the life of me.... Been an Autocad user for over 10 years and never seen anything like this. Any help would be great, I need to create some pdfs ASAP....

I'm getting the same error after having just installed 2017. looks like autodesk forgot to set up the batch plotting in 2017. Time for a second service pack or hot fix.

It works fine for me (except for the idiotic page numbering that they refuse to correct). Publish looks for the following file:

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2017\AcPublish.arx

Do you have this file? Maybe something happened during the install.

Yes, this is sad! I hope you figure it out! Good luck... But until come the solution i was gointo install the printer PDF CREATOR, its so easy!

Fix your install of R2017 perhaps, PUBLISH works fine in it here, just ran a set of PDFs myself in it.

Fix your install of R2017 if a reset doesn't do it: relying on 3rd party tools is fine but you might have other things broken in R2017 and you'll probably post back.

I have run a fix on 2017 and it told me that the acpublish.crx file was missing. I reinstalled the program and got the same message. I tried copying the file from autocad 16 and the messages stopped comig up but then I tried to run a batch plot using any of the icon, ribbon or keyboard it dosen't work. I am in an office with five computers that upgraded today and non of us can batch plot. It worked fine in 16 and still does but for 17 we have to save and print from 16 to batch print.

That is indeed odd: it looks like you are not the only one at the moment, someone else with LT2017 in that forum just started reporting it as well.
What is your Windows version?

Wonder why it works fine here in LT2017, R2017 and ACA2017 (I just tested all three on my PC to make sure).

If you have the time and patience, this might be next to try on one PC but it's brutal:

When you reinstall, avoid any sort of "migration" from an adjacent workstation before testing PUBLISH.

If the file does exist in C:\Program Files, try manually loading it by typing in ARX (enter), then choose "Load" from the options and then select that file when the dialogue box comes up. Then type in Publish and see if it works.

Is this on a server by any chance?

Over in our office we're using AutoCAD LT, were having the same problem with publish/Batchplot and are EAGERLY awaiting a fix, however if it involves loading .arx files, LT cant do that. I've tried reinstalling 2017 as well as dropping a working AcPublish.arx & .crx file into the main folder but nothing is working yet. Steve/Dean you got anything else for me to try?

Also no txt2mtxt command yet?

...guys...come on.

Do other arx files work? For example, Find and Replace text is an arx. Does that work?

I tried this, but it says:

c:\program files\autodesk\autocad 2017\acpublish.arx cannot find a dll or other file that it needs.
AcRxDynamicLinker failed to load 'c:\program files\autodesk\autocad 2017\acpublish.arx'
c:\program files\autodesk\autocad 2017\acpublish.arx

We just installed an AutoCAD 2017 LT license onto one of our Windows 7 64 bit workstations here. Unfortunately the publish command does not work either.

In reply to some questions people have raised, I am running Windows 10 (AutoCAD 2016 ran fine). @Anonymous, i tried loading the application for publishing and had the same results as you. This morning I uninstalled all AutoCAD components and deleted the file registry, disabled antivirous programs and download AutoCAD 2017 with the browser download option and that did not change a thing.

Now the interesting part of all this, is that it seems more files are missing/corrupted but beacuse it you are in AutoCAD 2017 go into options, go to "Plot and Publish" tab and on the bottom left side click on the "Automatic Publish Settings" and see what happens. I get an error....

Problem Solved.... Followed these steps.....

I can run the PUBLISH command just fine on my system, however it's the release candidate, not the shipping version. My publish files are a different size than yours. I will uninstall it and install from a fresh shipping download and check to ensure it's still working.

If that works, then you'll need to use the following to get it running:

a Discussion Group post said a clean uninstall/reinstall resolved it...

When you get the CD, follow the Autodesk recommended uninstall and reinstall procedures:

Since this is affecting you now, I would not wait for my testing to verify it, I'd just use that kb article to cleanly get everything uninstalled, then reboot.

Before you install again, use this process to prepare the machine:

1) Set the UAC to Never Notify (requires a reboot)

2) Delete all files/folders from %temp% (go to file explorer and enter %temp% in the address field *not* in the search field)

3) Turn off your Antivirus/antispyware

Since you used the "install now" option you'll have to access it from manage.autodesk.com again or use the Virtual Agent to download it. I recommend the Virtual Agent at this time as it could have become corrupted during the install over the internet.

I found a fix for my problem, apparently my virus protection isolated the acpublish.crx file but after I found that and restored everything things still didn't work so I ended up turnning off all non-essential programs and then reinstalling autocad and that seems to have fixed the issues I was having not only with publish but also with the sheet set manager. Only problem now is that it takes a long time for my prog\ram to load after restarting.
