Tool Palette Icon "Command Tool.....PNG"

AS a result of another conversation on Tool Palette Speed (http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-civil-3d-general/tool-palette-block-insertion-delay/td-p/6211987/highlight/false) I am modifying our tool palettes to use Macros for block insertion. The issue I have is the icons. I have placed all of my PNG Format icons on the folder ..TOOLPALETTES/PALETTES/IMAGES.

For each tool, I right click, select specify image and select the appropriate PNG file. When I close autocad and re-open. It recreases all of the icons with names such as Command tool_2C28463D-1CF2-4308-848F-31A2743B9321.png and assocaites this file with the tool on the palette. Why are these duplicate files being created and the original files not keeping there assocaition with the tool?

Working with Tool Palettes can be tricky at times. I personally have seen the same thing when creating custom palettes. The issue arises I think, when the images are not placed in the same location as the ATC file. Luckily, the duplicate files are tiny. I have attached an AKN Article About Sharing Tool Palettes and Tool Palette Groups which might apply in some fashion to your issue.

When I create a new palette in 2017, add a block, and then look at the image properties it shows me that I have two images associated with the icon - one for light backgrounds and one for dark. When I open the default location for the images I see that additional PNG files are created. This is normal.

Are you unable to use the new palettes and the new icons?

Thanks John. The tools work fine, I was just trying to clean up the directories and noticed the extra icons.
