I am using autocad 2016 student version and since 2-3 weeks ago I just sudenly faced a problem that specified Lineweights in plotstyle doesn't display properly in prints when I print from the layout page as they are defined. all the colors are displayed with the same thickness in the print. but when I print form model it shows all the lineweights as difined in plot style. Does anybody have the same problem or idea about this? Thanks

Hi,

welcome @Anonymous.autodesk.com!

This can have multiple reasons, the 2 most common ones:

Your layout has a plot-style assigned and this overwrites the lineweight settings (look to PLOT dialog, upper-right)

Your viewports have layer overrides assigned, so the lineweights by layer are overwritten on the layer settings for that viewport

If that does not answer/solve the question you might upload your drawing so we can take a look into it.

Thanks for your answer. but the problem is not about the current drawing. I
have this problem in general about all the drwings since about 2-3 weeks
ago. I even once opened a new drawing and I just drew 3,4 simple line with
different colos to try if specifying diferent linewights for different
colors works in layout view, and the same problem. however specifying other
adjustments in plot style such as colors and etc are still working
properly. I was thinking maybe it is due to the student version and wanted
to check if anybody else has experienced the same problem with student
version or not. Thanks again anyhow for your feed back.

Hi,

>> I even once opened a new drawing and I just drew 3,4 simple line with
>> different colos to try if specifying diferent linewights for different
>> colors works in layout view, and the same problem.

What I don't know now: do you use CTB/STB for plotting or not.

If yes, have you verified that the CTB/STB file has correct definitions with lineweights

When startint plot-dialog, what setting do you have for "Plot object lineweights" in the right side (try both settings, active and not active)

>> however specifying other adjustments in plot style such as colors and etc are still working properly.

So does that mean that with other plot style settings all is working well (sorry, it is not clear for me).

If so ... it looks like the CTB/STB you are using in the other cases might have been modified to not work as assumed.

Upload a drawing + a CTB/STB you are using + a PDF that is your result (so we can see which lineweight result you get when plotting from layout).

Sorry but I do not know what exactly the CTB and STB stand for. However I have attached the printed results togather with the screen shot of their plotstyle pages, one in the model and one in the layout view, so that you can check the difference. when I print from the model, the lines are being shown in the print as the lineweights are defined in the plotstyle, but when I switsch to layout view all the lines are printed with the same thickness. in other words, the defined lineweights are not being applied in the layout view when I print.
