how to turn off "the following shortcuts in the plotter search were invalid"

ive searched google and this forum and everything, i remeber this notification poppin up at my old job and i remember a way to turn it off.

anyways i checked my PLOTTERMANAGER path and its all set up correctly but its still searching the desktop which is where the

"the following shortcuts in the plotter search were invalid and ignored" is saying its ignoring. even tho the pltter set up is all the way in the appdata/autocad that whole pathway.

im not sure what to do, all the .ctb files are there and everything

also when i do the second solution it bring up the addplwiz.exe not the stywiz.exe not sure if that matters

You can start the command directly from Windows Explorer to help resolve the invalid paths. It is located in a location similar to this: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2017\R21.0\enu\Plotters\Plot Styles

i dont understand the last reply, and i just had to switch users from the previous user to my own desktop so now were doing a new install and hopefully that fixes it. apologies

yeah idk i thought i had it working for cad16 but it was actually opening cad15 so it didnt matter. but whenever we actually can use cad16 hopefully it stops doing this

alright ive tried resetting this is a fresh install of cad2016 and yet it still acting like its searching the desktop for plotter stuff when in he pic attached it clearly shows everythings supposed to be

Hi @JohnC_ISM,

I am sorry you are still battling this issue. The shortcuts, while in the correct path may be pointing to files that do not exist.

You can simply right click the Add-a-plotter and/or Add-a-Plot-Style wizard and point them to the correct file(s). This is not the same as the paths in the File path options dialog.

Please see this AKN Article (as per @pendean's prior post) on the process used to correct the issue.

I am sorry this has continued for such a long thread. And not that I don't believe you, but can you verify that when you check the two files listed in the error (make sure the path matches) by right clicking on them, that the Target as well as the Start in: are correct? You can check by selecting the Open File Location button in the Properties dialog.I have attached a Screencast video for clarification.

alright i opened up the propteries and didnt change anything at all then clicked OK and this popped up

I don't believe the files acutually exist there. This is the location on my machine for the Start In: location

C:\Users\vellekj\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2016\R20.1\enu\Plotters\Plot Styles

alright, i finally got on to cad today and nothing. i checked all the paths on every branch and none of them pointed to the desktop so im not sure why it was searching it.

on another forum someone mentioned using PLQUIET and set it to 1, i did this and it atleast turned the notification off. so thanks for the help. the error note is gone now.

on a diff note, do you have an idea as to why my grid lines are going through my text and objects making it look like the objects are below the grid.

already checked and theyre on the 0-Z axis.

EDIT: nevermind my veiw was on realistic instead of 2d wireframe

To turn off the error message type

"plquiet" and set to 1

this will stop the message from randomly popping up.
