I downloaded and installed Autocad 2017 and can't start a drawing or open any of my old drawings. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it. I've also installed all the hotfixes and updates. I have windows 10. Could this be the issue? None of my commands work

Good afternoon alentz7921

I am sorry to hear that you are having this problem. Let's start by reviewing your system requirements to make sure that we don't have an issue there. Next, let's make sure that we have all the Microsoft Windows updates applied.

Next, can you provide me with any error messages or events that occur when you try to launch the product? Does it get to the splash screen, migration, or where does it fail?

Please let me know your results and answers. Please also check the Windows Event Logs to see if there are any errors. I would also be interested in seeing the install log

I don't think its the system requirements. I have Windows 10 and an i7 processor and a 500 gb SSD. When I launch the program I can click the start project buttom but nothing pops up. I can't close out the program or hit any of the keys in the top left (new, open, save). So far there hasn't been any error messages. I can however click on the learn tap and watch any of those videos

Good morning alentz7921,

Are you logged onto your workstation with administrator or power user permissions? We might also check to see if your security settings are preventing drawings from opening. Let's turn off UAC and verify security and firewall settings.

Please post your results in the thread.

Please hit the Accept as Solution button if my post fully solves your issue or answers your question.

Sounds like your pop-up is offscreen: do you use dual monitors normally? Plug it back in and confirm.

Reset AutoCAD like this, it might help: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-reset-AutoCAD-to-defaults.html
