Thanks for the reply alfred. The issue is even simpler than what you thought !

Just test it as folowing and advise if you still not getting any error message:

When the 'Browse for plot file' window appears, regardless of what directory you are encountered with, simply type a name for the file in 'file name' field. My point in the topic is, as soon as the operator changes the 'default' name (by default I mean whatever that you already see in file name field), and hit SAVE button, you should get that error message.

The issue cannot be re-prodcued in the same AutoCAD Session if you once successfully create a PNG file with the 'default' filename. If you close and re-open your AutoCAD, you may see the error message as before.

Am I clear on my description?!

Hi all,

I am not sure whether following issue is only happening on my machine or not but it is more likely a coding bug.

Whenever I want to use PublishToWeb PNG.pc3 in my print window, as long as I paste my desired path into the file location address bar and press SAVE button, following error message will pop up:

The solution is clicking on filetype dropdown menu once before hitting the SAVE button !

Hi,

I don't have that dialog box showing the dpi-message.

Maybe I'm doing not exact your steps ... when you say

>> as long as I paste my desired path into the file location address bar

..what is "path" in your wording? For me path is the directory to save to, but not the filename. Where do you then specify the filename, do you type that into the filename-textbox or, if I'm wrong, do you paste directory and filename? Then: do you paste the extension too or the filename without extenstion?

Most clear would be if you use Autodesk Screencast and show us the link to the video then (>>>Autodesk Screencast<<<).

Hi,

does the folder you paste into the command line exist?

I can't reproduce that issue up to now, but I see that you paste a path having a comma and spaces in the folder name, not sure if that could be part of the issue (never use comma in folder or filenames).

On my system:

if "New Folder" is a directory that exists and I click onto the "Save" button then the folder is changed to that path and it is asking now for the filename.

If "New Folder" is not an existing directory, but the path up to that name exists my AutoCAD 2017 stores the file as "New Folder.png"

If the path before "New Folder" (in your case "C:\USQ\2016, Sem 1") does not exist I get an error message to use a correct path.

One idea besides: When you first started AutoCAD 2017 ... have you migrated settings? So this pc3 is ported/used from a previous release of AutoCAD?

I think the answer to your very first question is obvious.

And the answer to your last question is YES. I used the migrating procedure but apart from this little issue, I have never had any problem with my recent upgrade.

Did you try to create a folder with a comma in the name? Do you suspect the comma in the filename is causing the error? If that is the case, then this topic can be reported to Autodesk as bug.

Hi,

>> I think the answer to your very first question is obvious.

Why?

I don't see if the folder you paste into the filedialog exists or not, because the filedialog is currently showing subdirectory "New Folder" as part of folder "Downloads", but you paste another folder into the filename-field. How should I know if there exists a folder "New Folder" in "C:\USQ\2016, Sem 1" or not.

>> And the answer to your last question is YES. I used the migrating procedure but

>> apart from this little issue, I have never had any problem with my recent upgrade.

Well, that is a difference between what you have and what I have. I never do a migration because of too many conflicts. And searching for just one issue because of a failed migration needs much more time compared to making my customization from scratch for the new release ... and that is then free of risk.

Compare your pc3 file (and the pmp file that is configured within the pc3) from that folder

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2017\UserDataCache\Plotters

And if it has different file-dates and/or sizes and use the original file and see if the error again occurs.

>> Did you try to create a folder with a comma in the name? Do you suspect the comma

>> in the filename is causing the error?

I never ever use special characters in folder or filenames. You may call me outmoded (hope that is the correct word for someone hanging on old rules), but what I know is that all software will work when I follow these old rules.

And yes, for you I have tried the comma in the foldername, and got PNG created without an error message, so that works and seems not to be the source of your problem.
