topic Intersect Solids - Inconsistent graph vertices error in AutoCAD Forum

Hello - We have two solids (Each solid is a 3D Solid entity) and as we try to find the intersection volume we get the following error:

Command:
INTERSECT
Select objects: 1 found
Select objects: 1 found, 2 total
Select objects:
The Boolean operation on solid and/or surface bodies failed.
Modeling Operation Error:
Inconsistent graph vertices.
Command:

Please see the attached file and please note that the intersection volume will represent the actual volume of the earth dam. Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

welcome @Anonymous.autodesk.com!

I get the same error, but to be honest that type of 3D-Solids is not common to how solids are used in AutoCAD.

My guess is that the drawing was created with Civil 3D (command _AUDIT shows that there are pipe-components to be repaired), so my question is why don't you continue to work with Civil 3D and create a volume of difference of the 2 surfaces?

Hello Alfred, Thank you very much for your very quick response. Yes, I will follow your suggestion. I also was able to solve the problem by moving one of the volumes 0.1m up. I have no idea why this works...

You are right, the models started on Civil, but I need to create the 3D solids on AutoCAD because that is the format required by a Geotechnical modeling software (Some seismic analyses will be done with the final model of the dam).

Kind regards

-Rafael
