I have AutoCAD 2017 (but I've had the same issue in 2016), and I keep having issues with my multileaders. This only happens when I'm using the viewbase command, and what seems to be happening whenever I try to create a new multileader, if I don't snap it to the exact right point, the multileader disappears after I finish the command.

I'm sure it has something to do with the multileaders wanting to be associated to something, but even when it looks like I'm snapped to an endpoint, it will still not work some times.

I have found a work around, but it doesn't makes sense that it works if the problem is the multileaders not wanting to be disassociated. I create a multileader that isn't snapped to any geometry at all. The leader will generate and I just move it to where I want it. This means the leader is disassociated which is less than ideal.

Wil D.

Does this happen in every drawing, or just some of them?

Can you post an example?

I have had the same problem occur sporadically in 2016. By changing in and out of model/paper space the view seems to regenerate and the leaders work again. Must be something with the view temporarily losing associativity with the model and needing a refresh.

I have a greater problem with 2017 that the base view command is not working at all. It doesn't generate view correctly and show all the model elements.

Apparently this is a known issue and may be addressed in a service pack??

Very dissappointed with 2017.

Yes, we have discovered an issue with the Viewbase command in AutoCAD 2017 and are waiting for the developers to find a fix.

In the meantime, please post a drawing showing your problem so we can determine if it is related to the known issue or not.

I've found that it happens with every drawing at some point. I've found that saving, closing, and reopening the file fixes the issue. Unfortunately I don't have any files that continue to have the problem after I close and open the file so posting a dwg might not help.

I believe someone else mentioned that they noticed a corralation between switching from model to paper can some times cause it. I have noticed it as well, but some times this issue will start without me ever leaving paperspace.

Sorry for the delayed response, all of my email notifications were going to SPAM.

After working in your drawing for a while, and trying the switch back and forth between Model and Paperspace many times, I was unable to reproduce the issue you are having, as you suggested might be the case.

I also tried to replicate the problem of not being able to snap to points, but I was able to snap to NEA, END, INT, and MID points on the views with no issues.

I tried purge and audit, but found no errors to remove in the drawing.

The only thing that comes to mind, is that if saving, closing, and reopening the file removes the problem, that the issue is probably with the AutoCAD user profile or Windows user profile. I have seen time and again how a corrupt profile (of either type) can cause weird issues.

1. Try resetting AutoCAD to defaults (after backing up any customizations) and see if the issue recurs.

How to reset AutoCAD to defaults

2. If that doesn't help, try creating a new Windows user profile, then login to that user and worh there for a while and see if that helps stabilize the system.

It wouldn't hurt to make sure the Hotfixes are installed, if you haven't done that yet, although there is nothing specifically in any of them that is supposed to relate to multileaders.

Accumulated hotfix 1 for AutoCAD 2017 based products

I will give this a try. I've also wondered if it was a graphics driver issue since it's not the only weird issue I've been having in paperspace.

I did get the hot fixes just today, so maybe that will solve some of my issues.

That's a good thought, and it couldn't hurt to check to see if there is a better driver out there!

You can go to our Certified Hardware site, click Graphics Hardware, then enter in your AutoCAD version, OS, and card manufacturer and get a recommendation for the best certified driver for your card:

Certified Hardware

The certified drivers are not always the latest, I should note. Occasionally, a newer driver will not work as well as an older one, or has not yet been tested for compatibility.

So I'm finding that no matter which file I use I will occasionally have this issue as well as dimensions that do not associate. The only thing I've found that fixes this is to close the drawing and reopen it. Does Autodesk know why this is happening? While it's not a major inconvenience, having to do it every half hour or so is.

I don't think that this is an entirely separate issue from what I originally posted so I thought it best to add to the conversation.

Switch to wireframe view. After selecting the snapped starting point, multileader appears, although small and next to creation point. Enter the text, then re-select, use relocate the top point to the desired position.
