Changing block to annotative makes current blocks disappear

I noticed if you change a block that is currently in a drawing to annotative, then all of the blocks in the drawing disappear because they have no annotative scale set to them. Is there a way to make this change without the blocks disappearing?

The way that I do this currently, is to change the block to annotative, then insert another block so it can be selected. Once selected, I use the select similar command to add annotative scales.

They are still in the file: does SELECTSIMILAR not able to find them? How about QSELECT? FILTER command?

SELECTIONANNODISPLAY does not work as there are no annotation scales to display.

Hi,

Set ANNOALLVISIBLE to 1 to display all annotative objects and ANNOAUTOSCALE to 4 to automatically add annotative scales as they change.
