3D dwg to Sketchup Make

Hi,

I like to find out if it's possible to export 3D solid dwg to Trimble Sketchup Make 2016 with all surface enclose.

Example a 3D solid cylinder will appear as a 3D empty cylinder in Sketchup. I have look through other post which suggest to use CONVToSurface or CONVToMesh, then explode to meshes before exporting to DXF. These does not help.

My Sketchup have a plugin extension 'FreeDXF' installed.

Please advise.

I am using Autocad 2016, trying to export to sketch up.

You need Sketchup Pro, not the freebie "make" http://help.sketchup.com/en/article/3000165

If you want to use your free plugin, go ask that creator about it just realize it's not really any good http://sketchucation.com/plugin/838-freedfx
It will probably only inport R12DXF files, you can use DXFOUT command to get that type of file from AutOCAD 2016 (remember to change the format to the oldest R12).

I tried dxfout R12 and R2000, not much luck. Got a few scattered lines only.

Any other option beside getting the Pro version?

Pretty much what that feature explained, isn't it.

"make" version has very few import options for 3D objects: it's meant for casual use and "adjacent seat" use. We use Sketchup PRO for professional results and is what I recommend if this is not a one-off need 🙂

if it's a one off need, post your dwg file here and someone will convert it for you.

Go get Sketchup 6. Save your file as an Autocad 2004 or older version. Open Sketchup 6 import your file then save as a Sketchup file and close it. Then open in your current version of Sketchup. Or, buy the pro version. Pay or do more work.

Good day. I met similar problem(. I took a 3D dwg file published here and tried to open it in Sketchup Pro. I got only wireframe object, not usable in my case. A bit stuck and not sure what actions to perform to have a nice looking object in Sketchup Pro.

I have a one-off need to convert a DWG to SKP and wondered if anyone would be so kind as to convert it for me? I only have Sketchup Make, not Pro (trial expired)
