I'm sorry, but there is no amount of automation that is going to fix the human element. What you really need is better drafters who don't make those amateur mistakes. If duplicate objects is that much of an issue, I'd be willing to bet that there is much more that needs fixing.

Hi and welcome to AutoDesk Forum,

OOPS only work in these cases :

- restoring all objects erased by ERASE command.

- after creating Blocks.

- restoring all objects on a layer that has been removed by purge command.

SO as you see with OVERKILL command OOPS doesn't work.

To know what overkill did delete object correctly for example will it
delete the object underneath draw order or another layers ? Did it delete
partial overlap objects? I also need to know which blocks or attributes
been deletes as it will affect my assumption and quantity. This is just
part of my concern.

Unless you set it to ignore layers, then it won't delete similar objects on different layers.

It won't delete attributes that are in blocks. If you have attributes that are not in a block, you've got bigger problems.

Quantity take offs should probably be done after overkill.

Overkill is used to help fix improper drafting. If what it deletes is important to you, you need a more robust tool and should probably take a look at how these drawings are being generated. Focus on preventing the duplicates from happening in the first place.

When there is delete involve in my drawings I prefer to know what have been
deleted.
I also often calculate total polyline area and some how it got duplicate
object. Overkill sometime will find my duplicate and I need to know where
and what it delete so that I'm aware which polyline got overlaps and I did
calculated double.
I manage to use oops in my few version back and it did help me .

Maybe your efforts should be focused on avoiding creating duplicate, rather than trying to have an automated process to fix sub-par drafting.

Hi @Anonymous,

As workaround you can coy things you want to overkill to a new drawing and perform it there first and compair results, or bring it back to the original file on a new layer and perform your comparison..

By the way As @imadHabash said about Oops, doesnt work after using block or wblock commands or after undo, it also can't restore objects on purged layers..

Regards,

Hi @Anonymous,

As I said Eddy, you can bring back the over killed objects to the original file in a new layer over the originals and compare all you want.. It's just like bringing back the deleted objects by oops, your bringing the new objects from the new file..
