Duplicating Objects

Hi There,

I am a bit of a noob, so please go gentle with me.

I'm trying to design a shipping container house, and I have the container ISO.DWG, How do I duplicate the item so that I can stack as necessary to create the complete model.

Any help would be most appreciated,

I am jealous! It sounds like a fun project. Is it possible to attach your drawing so I can give you some advice? I think rather than work on an Isometric you should really be doing this in 3D but I will examine what you have and offer you my two cents 🙂

I've attached the container file, as that's all i've got to go with so far, still learning the ropes etc.

First i would turn it into a block and then I would probably use something like 3DARRAY. the dimension i used for the array are not exact so youll have to determine whats best for what you are trying to do.

@john.vellek @TheCADnoob That was a massive help. Managed to get the stack, rows and columns done, and then just deleted the ones I didn't need. So this is the configuration I was looking for.

Now to figure out how to start applying textures etc and designing the rooms. The gap will be glass creating an open living and dining area.

Hi @Anonymous,

Looks like you are off to a good start. Check out the Orbit command when you have a moment (not so much use of the ViewCube that way).

You can apply materials/textures bylayer which would be really fast for the container or by object for special elements such has glazing or wall finishes.
