Changes to Annotative text require scale reset

I have come across a rather annoying issue that i hope can be easily resolved: Whenever i apply an annotative scale to some text in modelspace, any changes i make to that text, be it moving the text, changing the actual text, etc., i must reset the annotation to "no", and then back to "yes" for the changes to display. The small text in modelspace show correctly, reflecting the changes, but when i hover over the text in modelspace, or view in paperspace, the previous text/position is displayed unless i toggle "no" and then back to "yes" in the properties.

Suggestions?

Do you have ANNOAUTOSCALE variable on? look it up in HELP, I have mine set to 4. A negative value means it's off by the way.
ANNOALLVISIBLE variable needs to be on too.
