Sure, I didn't create any of the original PDF files so I have no idea. I thought providing the samples would help in stepping through the conversion process to see where things go awry. The only reason I'd use PDF conversion is a quick/easy way to blocks(in my case, equipment) that aren't openly available to me. If it takes me more than 20 minutes to get access to a block of some equipment then it's not worth my time trying to acquire it and I'll make a generic block with manufacturer/model # text on it, which is not ideal. I don't know a lot about Autocad and really don't use it much more than copying/pasting blocks. So creating blocks is a very cumbersome task for me. I appreciate the time you've taken to help resolve this for me.

Thanks,

Marc

I'm not sure if you can see in the first image, but there are dashed grey lines every place the imported result is messed up. (only noticeable when zoomed way in on the PDF) I tried importing a few PDFs and all imports resulted in similar hatches all messed up. Sample PDF attached to post.

Thanks,

Marc

Hi,

welcome @Anonymous.autodesk.com!

I can reproduce the issue and I see small gaps within the PDF objects between the black filling parts ... at the same position where AutoCAD has the conflicts after import.

I tried then to disable the option within the PDFIMPORT so solid fills are ignored ... and then the result is that not all outlines seem to exist. This brings me to the questions:

which software created these PDF's (maybe important also with which driver)

are these objects text in the original file? If so they should be exported as text into the PDF so that might give a better result (only a small hope as that seems to be not a standard font).

The Sample file was created by using the snapshot tool within PDF and printing it to a PDF via adobe acrobat 8 pro. The original PDF says it was produced using Adobe Acrobat 8.1. I don't know for certain what program was used originally, but if I was a betting man I'd say it was created in some version of Autocad and printed to a PDF in some fashion.

Yes, the original PDF was not very clean. I did a trace of the shapes and hope this helps you out.

I appreciate it, but it's not necessary at all.. I just deleted the text and put text in it's place. I simply created this thread in hopes that the underlying issue could be looked at and fixed in future versions. Here's another example..

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous,

Without knowing the exact process of how the elements were created and then converted to PDF (such as which PC3 files, transparency settings, pen tables, etc) it is difficult to offer suggestions.

In creating PDFs I typically use the AutoCAD PDF pc3 file and make sure that line widths are not so thin that they might not even be visible in the PDF. I also avoid using any transparencies with hatch patterns.
