Karen,

In addition to the things the others said, you have not drawn all of your model space entities full size. Don't cheat by using dimension scale factors. Use the paper space viewports to scale the objects. ALWAYS draw full size in model space. If you must have different scaled drawings in the same model space xattach the scaled drawings into the model space.

I agree with John that working thousands of feet from the origin will lead to nothing but problems. You can't even see any objects if you zoom extents. Hatch performs very poorly far away from the origin unless a basepoint is added locally.

My issue is with Autocad 2016. When I finish drawing in model space, some items shift location in paper space. My temporary solution has been shifting these items in paper space (so the sheets are good for printing), but what this does is shift it inaccurately in model space.

Same goes for some hatches, but I cannot find a temporary solution for this one. I tried shifting the hatch in paper space (as I explained before) but the hatch somehow connects itself with the lines that envelope it and ends up distorting what I have drawn.

I attached screen shots so it's easier to understand. Also, this only happens with certain items. I've researched this issue but have not found any solutions.

Yes both views are set to the top view. Again, this only happens with certain items. If that was the issue then all parts of the drawing would be distorted. But thanks for the thought!

HI @Anonymous,

Your drawing had some serious errors that I could not remove even using Audit.

I moved your modelspace objects to a new drawing by using Wblock.

I then dragged your existing layouts into the new drawing but the behavior wan't much better. I created a new layout (Layout1) and it appears to be fine.

When I zoomed out in your model I also notices that you had entities extremely far away from the rest of your model. Erased the odds and ends and then ran audit.

I suggest you recreate your layouts and things should be fine. You will see that I created a new hatch on the millwork drawing and it (for me at least) seems to be behaving properly.

The problem I find is that your layouts are in custom view rather then top view. Not sure how this was drawn but the geometry is skewed in model space. If I create a new layout I can't anything to show in it other then constraints.

Plus you have PLAN and UCS set to something other than WORLD in the file. Fix this in each viewport after you fix each in modelspace. BUT... you have so many objects hundreds of miles away any attempt at Zoom Extents renders the file pretty difficult to use. Is this a city-wide plan? your plans will disappear becuase of it. So delete those items before you do.

You have INFER CONTRAINTS turned on: is that deliberate?

Attached is your file back where I tried to fix it: center your viewports and lock them, I did not.
