topic Plot size units in AutoCAD Forum

Hi, though I am working with Civil 3d I think Autocad forum is a better place to post my question.

I am working in the metric system and everything is set to meters, however by default Layout1 and layout2 plot size units are set to inches not millimeters. I can change units through page setup but when I create new layout the default units seems to be inches.

I cannot find a way where to change it. I tried to do it through page setup manager but id didn't help.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi,

create a new drawing based on your template,

Use command _PAGESETUP (for each of the 2 layouts) and change the plot-units to mm.

Use command _SAVEAS, in that dialog change to filetype "AutoCAD template (*.DWT)" and save that file as a new template.

If you have overwritten your template (you used previously) then nothing more is to do. If you gave that template a new name you can define within the options that this template has to be used for _QNEW in the future.

HTH, - alfred -

Thanks Alfred,

I did your steps, however when I click + sign next to layout2 to create layout 3 it still comes in inches not millimeters.

Hi,

>> however when I click + sign next to layout2 to create layout 3 it still comes in inches not millimeters.

Then check your sysvar's MEASUREMENT and MEASUREINIT, in case of metric units they shoud set both to 1.

Please pay attention to:

MEASUREMENT (>>>details<<<) is saved in the drawing (so you have to again follow the steps above to create a template/dwt with that setting

MEASUREINIT (>>>details<<<) is saved to your Civil 3D profile/in the registry (not drawing dependent
