License for 2011, Network to Stand-alone

Hello,

We previously had AutoCAD 2011 installed via Network license but unfortunately the server died and we will not be replacing it. I have the .lic file to hand.

Since we are education I have tried to install 2015/2016/2017 all on our computers but the applications fails to load for our students as they are restricted users. I was hoping to obtain a stand-alone serial number and product key for our AutoCAD 2011 installation to allow the students to continue using the installed version of AutoCAD on our PCs by registering the stand-alone serial and product key on the current installs which were registered to the licensing server. I

Interesting to know.. I will try it out.. do you know how to extract the serial number from a .lic file?

Run the .LIC file thru http://licenseparser.com and it will break it out for you.

Also, if you elevate the student account to local admin or power user on the first launch, you can put them back to restricted user and the new AutoCADs will work. Each student can apply for their own 3-year license at http://students.autodesk.com and not have to use your retired license.
