Hi reggert, It sounds like you are snapping to the PDFs. Try setting PDFOSNAP to 0 and let me know if that helps.

I run AutoCAD 2017 with an approved NVIDIA graphics card, Windows 7, Intel Core i7 2.90GHz, 32g ram, 64bit Operation System, Dell Computer.

When I use the "MOVE" command or "Stretch", the cursor will select the line with a smooth transition between the starting point of the cursor to a point above the line or object. When I use the"ERASE" command, the cursor will jump around the line or object.

The drawing has 4 PDF attachments in the drawing as this was all the customer had on file. When I remove the PDF's the "ERASE" command returns to normal and has smooth movement.

Is there any settings that would correct this situation to allow smooth cursor movement with all commands? My DYNMODE is 0, SNAP is off, Rollover tips is 0, etc.

Thanks,

John,

I turned PDFOSNAP to 0. Same result - jumping cursor. In this drawing I have 4 PDF attachments. The PDF's are scanned PDF's from the original paper blueprints. If I freeze all of the PDF's except for the area that I am working the cursor returns to normal operation. It appears to be an issue with the quantity of PDF's that I have open in the drawing.

Thank you for your quick response.

Robert Eggert, CET

Fire Safety, Inc.
#1 Helmkamp Drive
Wood River, IL 62095
(618)-254-2323 office
(314)-686-9121 cell

Hi @Anonymous,

Without knowing the content in your PDF's it is hard to make suggestions. Since they are basically treated as bulky (non-AutoCAD vector) attachments they will slow performance. If you are in AutoCAD 2017 and the PDF's contain linework you can import the PDFs instead of attaching them. I have had good results doing this. You can also experiment with combining PDFs or even converting them to TIFF to see if it improves performance in your drawings.

Hi @Anonymous,

If you like, you are welcome to attach a drawing and the associated PDFs so I can try to duplicate the issue. One option might be to open the PDFs in DWF writer and create DWFs instead of using the PDFs.
