Inserting hyperlinks in PDFs to DWGs

Hello,

I currently am managing a detail library with Sheet Set manager and have a file location text field in each drawing. I am looking for a way to publish that set as a PDF booklet for convenient viewing and also be able to link them to their appropriate dwg file on the server.

I am aware of plugins that let you manage libraries but I find that a pdf booklet is the best with regards to flipping through details without actually opening it.

Thanks in advance!

AutoCAD 2013

Windows 7

I would think this to be fairly simple. What have you tried so far?

>>>...be able to link them...<<<
Have you tried using HYPERLINK command in AutoCAD yet?
http://www.ellenfinkelstein.com/acadblog/using-hyperlinks/

>>>... I find that a pdf booklet is the best...<<<

PUBLISH command in modern AutoCAD versions...

Yes, I use publish with Sheet sets too. I believe this is a newer version of AutoCAD. I'm using 2013. Is there a way for older versions to retain hyperlinks after being published?

I've tried Adobe PDF and there seems to be no tickbox for retaining hyperlinks.

Publishing to DWF maintains the hyperlinks but not to PDF. This knowledge base article explains:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-create-active-hyperlinks-in-a-PDF-from-AutoCAD.html

By right clicking on a drawing, you can convert it to a pdf by using Adobe. This will preserve the hyperlinks. Then you can assemble the pdf files into a binder. I would rather just use html if the primary purpose is maintaining links.

Hi @Anonymous,

Perhaps downloading Trueview 2017 might be an answer. When I look at the plot options (and the PDF options of the AutoCAD PDF driver) it looks like it will include hyperlinks.

Give this a try and update your post with the results.

If you like to attach a file that represents your library, I can try this on my side too.
