AutoCAD Incorrectly Identifies Shortcuts as Invalid

I have shortcuts to various control panel items on my desktop (e.g. Region settings). If I open a DWG from the Desktop I get the AutoCAD 2016 warning:

The following shortcuts in the search were invalid and ignored:

C:\Users\...\Region.lnk

etc.

It isn't invalid and I don't want to delete it, as most solutions seem to advise.

Can I turn off the warning message?

HI,

would you try this from your desktop area:

right click dwg icon \ open with \ choose default program.

Hi @Kyudos!

You may try opening the file from within the application..

-----

Beware of some viruses that move the contents f your drive to a different hidden folder in the drive, keeping only shortcuts (*.lnk files) that lead to the new location (instead of the original files) , which causes errors sometimes when you try to open the file using the application....

Does the problem happen with other applications as well - excel or word for example?

Regards..

That's what I tried first...same result.

The problem is that the shortcuts have no defined target... but in this case that doesn't make them invalid. AutoCAD should have a way to disable such an annoying message.

I don't want to remove the shortcuts, so I guess I'll just have to put up with the error or move the DWG.
