Hi all,

Been searching these forums and others for awhile now and I've found no answer to why this is happening. I have a drawing which holds all the blocks I use, and i insert them from there into new drawings when i need them. The problem is any blocks containing wipeouts have a draw order issue where the wipeout comes to the front. I have tried every technique i can find to correct draw order, including recreating the blocks so the wipeout is created first. None of them seem to have any effect. Even more perplexing, after i fix a block and save the drawing, when i close and re-open, the wipeout goes to the front again. I have to fix the blocks every time i open the drawing.

I'm at a loss. If i have to fix the blocks every time i open the drawing, it becomes a huge waste of time, but i have found no solutions. Any help would be appreciated.

what about DRAWORDER and DRAWORDERCTL ?

would you post the block who has the problem as CAD dwg ?

Hey there,

The draw order commands and variables were my first attempt to fix the issue. DRAWORDERCTL is set to 3. Any and every draw order option i have tried. I've attached one of the offending blocks.

all what i do is:

- turning off wipeout frame

Command: WIPEOUT
Specify first point or [Frames/Polyline] <Polyline>: f Enter mode [ON/OFF/Display but not plot] <OFF>:

i'm so glad that it's solved..

I'm having the same issue but I really don't understand the process to fix this. In the attached DWG, I'm trying to import "DetailTag-SSM" but the wipeout always shows up at the front, no matter what order I put it in.

Side note: I'm using the block with the Model Views and Sheet Views tab setup for callout blocks via the sheet set manager.

That works just fine for me, too, when I insert it into my drawing via DesignCenter. However, the problem seems to happen when I insert the block via the Sheet Views tab in the Sheet Set Manager pallet.

There was a bug about wipeout draworder being lost during insert if the wipeout is in a block and model space not having an extension dictionary. This bug was fixed in AutoCAD 2017.

We didn't discover this bug until we were working on AutoCAD 2017 because the template files that shipped with AutoCAD had an empty extension dictionary on model space, so any drawing creating using one of those template files wouldn't run into this problem when inserted into another drawing.

Ok, I'm confused about that. I don't know anything about an extension dictionary.

Also, I'm using 2018 so does that mean this problem should not be happening to me? Is there something else I should be doing to avoid this problem?

Turning off the frame of the wipeout is not a solution. The bug happens in version 2019 only. For some reason the wipeout objects inside a block that have a display order "behind" other linework in the block are somehow brought in front of the other linework. The display order is reversed for some reason, only in v2019, so the wipeouts mask other linework in the block that it should not, regardless of the frame being on or off. Add these same blocks to a dwg in v2018 or any previous version and they work fine. In v2019, the wipeouts are brought forward for some reason.

After upgrading to 2019, everytime that I insert a block with a wipeout included as part of it, the wipeout is brought to the front regardless of where it is positioned on the original file. Has a solution been found for this yet?

I'm experiencing the same issue on 2019, the blocks work fine on other colleagues machines, with older versions of cad. Exploding the drawing and sending the wipeouts to the back only temporarily solves the issue but as soon as I navigate off the paper space and back, the wipeouts are back to the front. Extremely frustrating.

What I ended up doing was replacing all wipeouts in blocks with solid hatches that plot white. They stay put better than wipeouts. I understand that may not be a feasible solution for some, but it worked for us.

Not for me. It was happening in 2018 and still in 2019. Every time I insert a wipeout block into a drawing for the first time, I need to go through the block editor to put it in the back. Every time. I spoke with some AutoCAD elite guy about it a while ago but he couldn't help. Autodesk knows about the issue but they would rather work on other things like the ability to redline drawings with my cell phone. Because that's what we all need to do everyday, right?

Hey, what's this thing over here...? BricsCAD? Let's see what this is about...

That's definitely a good option. The only negative thing about that is that our annotation layer is yellow so it's really hard to see yellow linework on top of a white background.

Hey, does anyone know how to make a solid hatch look dark but print out as white? Maybe something with the pen setups or something?

Our company uses style-based plot tables (.stb). We have a plot style that plots white, and have a mask layer that uses the plot style. The layer's colour is grey, so the hatches are visible on white or black backgrounds without being obtrusive. Yellows show up well on them too.
