Greetings and good day,

Thank you for your follow-up. What I am trying to accomplish is creating a
template file with a programmed table that will not only extract data but

update dimensions automatically if I change a length etc.

How do I connect a field to a dimension and can I connect a field to a
dimension inside of a dynamic block?

I am using Autocad LT 2017

Thank you and have a great day.

Thomas

Hello, I am using Autocad 2017 lt and I am just beginning to understand how to setup a datalink table.

I want to set up attributes that will collect dimension values that can be extracted to a datalink file such

that when stretching the block and the dimensions - say for the length - changes they will automatically

be linked to the attribute for my table data.

I don't know! Did I say that well enough for anyone to understand what I want to do?

Heeeeeellllllllppppp!

I am wanting to place attributes that are linked to my dimensions so that when I use the dynamic stretch command

and the height, or length, of my object changes that value is used to replace the previous dimension. For example: I have a steel beam that is

5'-0" long and if I have to change the length with the dynamic stretch command and the value changes to 5'-6" the value for that part reflects in the table automatically.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @mathomasdrafting,

Did you get this to work? I just found your post and wanted to make sure that you were able to get the solution you need.

It doesn't appear that you really need a datalink at all. Simply create a table and insert fields that are connected to each of your dimensions. If a dimension changes you can regen to get the fields to update.

You can also Rt-click the table and export to Excel if you need it there.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

Hi @mathomasdrafting,

In AutoCAD LT this will not work. In AutoCAD there might be a way to write a program that modifies the endpoint (assoc 10 or 11) based upon a linked item in a table.

You might post in the customization forum to see if anyone has a workaround (such as a script) for you.
