Hi. There seems to be some issue with my cad. the lines when zoomed out seem to be meeting perfectly. but when I zoom in, I see they aren't meeting (the red lines in the attachment). Ortho is on. Snapmode set to 0. tried other values too but doesnot work. Snapangle is set to 0. Osnap is on and nearest is deselected. And it also makes a polyline with such non intersecting lines. If I try to hatch, it also takes in the hatch without any notifications of Closed boundary cannot be determined". Please help..

Hi and welcome to AutoDesk Community,

such a problem causes by the user itself, i face it many times and the only reason that i found is the way of using object snap mode.i suggest to use (int) osnap for a while and see if the problem still exist.believe me you will find that the problem gone.why? because we use the right osnap on the right position.

try it and till us what you notice..

Good Luck..

I really did not get how it can take hatch and makes a polyline if these lines aren't meeting. and also that if in an active command I try to zoom in, it does not allow me to. similarly it does not allow me to zoom out with my scroll wheel if any command is active and I've zoomed in to the extent it shows in the image.

It still does the same thing even if int osnap is on. I've kept mid point, end point, intersection, perpendicular, center, geometric center, node and tangent on. rest all are off including grid snap.

Hi,

@Anonymous wrote >> I really did not get how it can take hatch and makes a polyline if these lines aren't meeting << for hatching this usual CAD behavior and there is a system variable called HPGAPTOL and from HELP (The default value, 0, specifies that the objects enclose the area, with no gaps. Enter a value, in drawing units, from 0 to 5000 to set the maximum size of gaps that can be ignored when the objects serve as a hatch boundary ).

also when you want to zoom in and out REGEN will help you to go in or either out.

this is what I have been trying to solve as these issues are in all my files at all corners. and this has been happening since a few days. I was not experiencing such issues before. if its a possible human error, why would it even form a polyline out of these lines. and apart from these, even if my ortho and osnap had been perfectly function, what would be the possible cause for this?

It is possible to create polylines if the other side of your line does connect correctly.

there are several ways to avoid or fix these issues.

As imadhabash already said; using object snap (OSNAP - F3) while drafting and carefully selecting which kind of snaps you want to have (END-MID-CEN-...) will greatly improve the quality of your work.

If you're drawing a line or polyline and don't have your object snap active you can shift+right click to select a snap for the next vertex of your line. Once you've placed that vertex, you will have no snaps active after that.

If you notice several lines not closing or joining, you can quickly join (J) + trim (TR) them by using the fillet (F) command with radius 0

For making a hatch you will allways need a closed polyline. Even if all the vertexes are connected that does not mean a polyline is closed. To close a polyline check the properties (PR)
