Define Conditions:

Determine the conditions under which the color of your concrete block changes. For example, you mentioned that the color changes based on the concrete cover thickness.

Decide on the color scheme you want to use (e.g., green for sufficient cover, yellow for borderline, red for inadequate).

Color Mapping:

Assign specific colors to each condition. In your case:

Green: Concrete cover is sufficient.

Yellow: Concrete cover is borderline.

Red: Concrete cover is inadequate.

Custom Scripting or Express Tools:

AutoCAD doesn’t have built-in conditional formatting like Excel, but you can achieve this using custom scripts or Express Tools.

Here’s a high-level approach:

Create a custom script (LISP or .NET) that evaluates the concrete cover thickness.

Based on the thickness, set the color of the 3D solid using the COLOR command or similar methods.

You’ll need to loop through all relevant 3D solids and apply the color dynamically.

Gradient Scales (Optional):

If your 3D modeling software supports gradient scales, you can smoothly transition between colors based on the concrete cover value.

Unfortunately, AutoCAD’s native tools don’t directly support gradients for 3D solids, but you can simulate it by creating a series of solids with varying colors and stacking them to represent the gradient.

3D Viewer Visuals:

If you’re visualizing your 3D models in a viewer (e.g., Navisworks, BIM 360), explore features related to conditional formatting or color gradients.

Some viewers allow you to customize colors based on numerical values. Look for options related to color scales or gradient mapping.

3d solid conditional formatting for color,

Hello,

Gents, I am trying to apply conditional formatting on a 3D solid, so I should be able to apply multiple colors instead of one. Imagine this is a reinforced concrete block, but it is not perfectly moulded and the color changes if the concrete cover is less, equal or more than a certain value. I know it is possible because I've done it in the past but I forgot how.

Thank you in advance!
